    CapitalOne Bowl Underway

    2009-01-01 12:26:00

It's a new year, but it will be the final ending to Michigan State's 2008-2009 football team. Today MSU is taking on the University of Georgia Bulldogs in the CapitalOne Bowl Game in Orlando, FL. The Spartans have been in Florida since Christmas night and have balanced practice with a little fun. The players were able to spend some time at Universal Studios and spend some cash during a Best Buy shopping spree. However the main focus is still on the game. Georgia was the pre-season #1 in most polls and the Spartans are fully aware of that. At the same time the MSU players seem to be hoping for a little redemption to the end of the regular season. After a blow-out loss to Penn State this game against the Bulldogs is just what senior safety Otis Wiley thinks the team needs, We have the opportunity to prove to ourselves, our teammates, seniors and underclassmen that we have a great program as Georgia does too. This matchup is going to be great and we want to prove to the nation that we do have a great team and can answer to the hype.

For the first time in nearly five months, senior quarterback Brian Hoyer will have five receivers in his arsenal, It will be huge for us. We've had musical chairs at receiver this season where one guy gets healthy and then another gets hurt so to have them all back if they try to take away Javon then at least we have some guys to throw at out there. However, senior running back Javon Ringer is hoping that all five receivers won?t be needed because he will be able to run all day, ?I feel pretty good. I haven?t been doing too much hitting, a lot of it has been running and staying in shape. Thus far, my body is feeling pretty good and I feel just about how I did at the beginning of the season. There have also been some questions to how the Big Ten team will compare with a speedy and tough SEC team, but Ringer sees today's game as the decider, It's expected when you compare the speed of the SEC and the power of the Big Ten. You can't really tell much until you get out on the field, so it will be a test when we play Georgia on Thursday.

As I sit here writing the pre-game festivities have occurred and Georgia just won the toss. With a good showing from the fans of both teams, the CapitalOne bowl is set to begin.
